Banister Bindings were invented by busy mom Mary Tappin out of frustration with the time, energy and logistics it took to hang garland from her banister. Before Banister Bindings, Mary would collect twist ties from garbage bags over the course of the year and save them for decorating her banister with garland for the holidays. If she didn't have enough wire tires, she would use her husband’s fishing wire or wire ties. While hanging her garland, she had to be extra careful not to scratch her banister and found that decorating became a two-person job, with one of her children holding the garland while she gingerly tied it to the banister.

A few years ago, after getting a manicure for an upcoming holiday party, Mary broke several of her newly manicured nails while hanging garland from her banister and thought, "there has to be a easier way." Having developed her idea, in 2006, Mary is happy to launch her new and innovative product to the public. She believes that Banister Bindings are truly the best product of its kind in the marketplace because the product is very simple, easy to use and solves a decorating problem most decorators have faced.
